Matthew Shepard was a student at the University of Wyoming.
Being openly gay, he was the victim of a brutal homophobic assault
and he died on Monday Oct 11 at 12:53 AM.
The circumstances of this hatred crime shocked America and the world,
bringing to the forefront the debate regarding the Hate crime laws and
the responsibility of the "Ex Gay" hatred TV Ad-campaign by groups such
as "Center for Reclaiming America" or the "American Family Association"
and the likes.

Vigil in Montreal
A vigil was held in Montréal this Thursday Oct 22 at 6 Pm.
Inside of the Shatner building on McTavish (on the McGill University
campus) with speakers such as Claudine Metcalfe from "Dire enfin la violence",
a support group here in Montreal.
Others actions are sheduled, more about this soon ...
In New
York, they were 5000 but there was unfortunately a lot of violence
by the police, more than a hundred arrests, and some already call those
events STONEWALL II. |

Another GAY BASHING
The spouse of Len Robinson (an official Friend
of Reconciliation MCC) was
Gay Bashed last Tuesday at about 12 noon.
He was hit over the head and is
in intesive care, not expected to live.
The hospital and police will not
allow the life support system to be turned
off, since a good defense
attorney could plea that the hospital and
doctor killed him, not the
criminal. They have no leads at this
time, but they do not want to do
anything to threaten the case. The young
man's name is Tony Dill. Pray for
Len and the community here in Grand Rapids.

Completely crazy
An extremist religious group (Westboro Baptist Church) did picket Matthew
Shepard's funeral.
